Aleza Zheng (born 1999, Shenyang, China) is an interdisciplinary artist working with oil, ink, linen, and silk. The artist was born in China, raised in Canada, and now lives and works in Los Angeles. Her sources come from a third culture experience, navigating the cultural intersection between the East and West in history–from tragist thinking to Daoist thought, Bada Shanren and French Symbolists, to anime and cartoons. The figurative paintings approach philosophical themes with a playful, often ironic, and childlike sensibility. Beneath the ludic surface is an inquiry into contemporary perception and how value is assigned to the world.
Her work has been included in group exhibitions, most recently at Frieze Seoul (2025) with Make Room x Apalazzo Gallery.
